Description

Arbanasy is a little village next to one of the biggest cities in Bulgaria, Veliko Turnovo (Great Turnovo). Veliko Turnovo was the capital of the Second Bulgarian kingdom (1185-1393), between the two slaveries- the Byzantine (1018-1185) and the Turkish(1393-1876/77).
With its magnificent old-fashioned houses and narrow cobblestone roads now Arbanasy is one of the biggest tourist centers in Bulgaria.
This picture was taken in the yard of one of the museum-houses there. Of course it is not allowed to shoot in the house but outside there is no problem. I think the house is from 17th century or at least around that time. Sudden attacks were something usual for those centuries and that's why all the rich people's houses had these high solid-built stone walls (it is called duvar in bulgarian). There were also shutters and bars on every window and in this house there were even two toilets inside the house- one for men and one for women- which were used during the sieges.
This photo is old but I desided to post it because it's one of my favourites.

I really like this photo. Personally, I would have composed the image with the wheel a little lower and a lot more to the right (or possibly a little to the left), as it's a little too center-focused. Still, it's a wonderful shot with good lighting, mood and subject matter.

At first I thought that the wheel should of been off centre... but on looking I see the Ivy growing up the wall frames it both sides...
So it works for me.... The exposure must of been hard as the lighting is speckled

Well done top marks.......

Beautiful lighting and mood. I agree with possibly cropping a bit of the bottom to lower the wheel a bit. This is a very peaceful photo, good job.
